DAVID BOWIE  -  ‘The Rise And Fall Of Ziggy Stardust And The Spiders From Mars’     LP   picture disc    1984     UK     RCA  BOPIC 3

Limited edition official RCA picture disc in die-cut sleeve with the numbered certificate/insert.   

Mispressed with side2 artwork on both sides!   Side1 should show a picture akin to the standard Ziggy Stardust album cover.  This could possible be a unique item????   Have never seen or can find any evidence about another one of these in existence??? 

Just to clarify, musically, you get the full album.   The side with the BOPIC – 3 – A  matrix has 5 track bands and starts and ends with ‘Five Years’ and ‘It Ain’t Easy’.   The side with the BOPIC – 3 – B  matrix has 6 track bands and starts and ends with ‘Lady Stardust’ and ‘Rock n Roll Suicide’.  Its the artwork/picture that has been duplicated on both sides.    Please see close up photos of the track bands of each side and also of the BOPIC 3 A matrix etching. 

CONDITION:       STRICT  U.K. MAGAZINE  'RECORD COLLECTOR'  GRADING SYSTEM USED.  I aim to provide an accurate and honest appraisal of condition.  It’s in my best interests to do so.  I WANT YOU TO COME BACK.    Record are checked in good natural light and play tested IN FULL at a high volume on a Pro-Ject Xtension 10 turntable fitted with an Ortofon 2M Black stylus (tracking at 2g).    Used records are cleaned using a Moth vacuum record cleaning machine prior to play testing, unless condition deems unnecessary. 

Have carefully studied the vinyl surface, can see no obvious marks or scuffs on the playing surface.  Looks as new.  Only issue is a discolouration/browning around the extreme outer edge – nowhere near the playing section.   Unsure if this was like this from new or a feature of aging?   Because of this will grade visually as EX+/NrMINT.   

Playing condition ranges from VG- to EX+, with most of the album playing at around the EX- mark.    Audible surface noise/light crackle in places – more noticeable on SOME of the quieter intros and in between tracks.  Not strong enough to smother the sound recording, but still audible all the same.  But having said all that, for instance, 'Rock n Roll Suicide' plays virtually perfect.      Overall, No serious audio faults.  NO loud consecutive clicks  NO distortion  NO jumps  NO sticking. 

Sleeve is in VG+ condition, if not a fraction better.   Small light creasing.   Some edge/corner wear.  Some of the spine text has worn.  Same text is also printed along the top edge but this far more clearer.   Bit of rubbing.  Slight touch of ‘lifting’ in places on the centre die-cut.   No serious faults  NO seam splits  NO tears/rips  NO writing  NO stickers  NO sticker marks.   

Insert is in NrMINT condition.

Record Collector Magazine Grading System  - VINYL

MINT The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint

EXCELLENT (EX) The record shows some signs of having been played but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and or creasing.

VERY GOOD (VG) The record has obviously been played many times but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratches. Normal wear and tear on the cover and extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable

GOOD (G) The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeable deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.

FAIR (F) The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents will be torn, stained and or deface

POOR (P) The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing

BAD (B) The record is unplayable or might even be broken and is only of use as a collection filler
