Anyone hwo has bothered to read the rantings of the madman that I have become over the years will have noticed a certain theme running through these listings with regard to the penchant of record companies to use unlaminated white card sleeves and unlined card inners, the use of which has ruined many a good album-now and again you find a copy that an owner had the good sense to protect with a poly sleeve.Just like this one really. Nice and clean with just really light ageing and handling wear and minimal creasing and no writing stickers that sort of stuff. The INNER GATEFOLD is unmarked unworn and has only minimal ageing
Rear Board EX+ Rear white board much as the front clean unmarked with just very light overall wear and ageing. Flipbacks N/A N/A Spine EX+ Nice wide spine uncrushed with complete and clear lettering and VERY LIGHT wear Top & bottom edges EX+ Top and bottom edges have VERY LIGHT wear only Opening EX+ Opening has VERY LIGHT wear and usage Corners EX+ All corners have VERY LIGHT wear only. INNER /EXTRASLYRIC INNER: EXCELLENT+ (NICE and clean and unworn with NO rips tears writing edge splits or repairs and just a faint pressure mark where the didc must have sat for a while before the original owner transferred it to the seperate inner, which is where it still resides.
DETAILSZiggy Stardust wrote the blueprint for David Bowie's hard-rocking glam, and Aladdin Sane essentially follows the pattern, for both better and worse. A lighter affair than Ziggy Stardust, Aladdin Sane is actually a stranger album than its predecessor, buoyed by bizarre lounge-jazz flourishes from pianist Mick Garson and a handful of winding, vaguely experimental songs.
Bowie abandons his futuristic obsessions to concentrate on the detached cool of New York and London hipsters, as on the compressed rockers "Watch That Man," "Cracked Actor," and "The Jean Genie." Bowie follows the hard stuff with the jazzy, dissonant sprawls of "Lady Grinning Soul," "Aladdin Sane," and "Time," all of which manage to be both campy and avant-garde simultaneously, while the sweepingly cinematic "Drive-In Saturday" is a soaring fusion of sci-fi doo wop and melodramatic teenage glam.
He lets his paranoia slip through in the clenched rhythms of "Panic in Detroit," as well as on his oddly clueless cover of "Let's Spend the Night Together." For all the pleasures on Aladdin Sane, there's no distinctive sound or theme to make the album cohesive; it's Bowie riding the wake of Ziggy Stardust, which means there's a wealth of classic material here.
