CHOOSE YOU / JULIE'S NEW BOYFRIEND / OH NO ... 7-inch, 45rpm 3 track EP single by the DEAD BEATS. Original UK pressing on the private RED RHINO RECORDS label (RED 3), from 1980. Killer UK post punk no wave rock / funk release with that edgy and ever trendy, indie pop / late '70s youth club disco sound. Looped drum breaks and funky beats / sleazy electro vocoder lead vocals and ESG style bassline on the brilliant JULIE'S NEW BOYFRIEND (with trying-to-pull-a-bird-at-a-party Cockney geezer rap outro) / frustrated punk vocals / strung-out guitars / reverb heavy feed-back / fuzz distortions and obsessive rhythms throughout OH NO and infectious teenage kicks a la The Undertones on the anthemic pop groove of CHOOSE YOU. Great for DJs. Micro private press for sure. Mod revival influenced artwork sleeve too. Rare EP!!!
Musicians:
Steve Durkin / Nick Jackson - lead vocals
Mel Jefferson - fender bass / vocals
Kelv - drums pressing
a.r. - guitar / vocals
Philip Seaton - smooth talkin'
John - dirty mac clapping
Our record grading: SEALED / M- / VG++ / VG+ / VG
Vinyl is in shiny, strong VG++ condition with a few hairlines and faint scuffs from sleeve removal (mostly to one side). Some light surface noises. A couple of soft pops (as you can hear on the soundclip). Item taken from an unplayed deadstock of records and played once for the recording of the soundclip. The card picture sleeve is in strong VG+ condition with corner wear and creasing from storage to bottom right corner (front and back). Archive number and some writing in pen to top open side (front and back). Rare EP!!!
