The second album by British electronic duo Death in Vegas was released in 1999 and became certified gold in the UK. Named after the studio where it was recorded, The Contino Sessions is packed with Richard Fearless and Tim Holmes' inventive production. Electronica and rock elements are folded in with guitarist Ian Button and bassist Mat Flint. Guest vocals from Iggy Pop, Jim Reid, Bobby Gillespie and Dot Allison turn up the depth and intensity, which is why it was nominated for the 2000 Mercury Music Prize. There are plenty of surprises and emotional peaks and troughs in this record, which, for some, marks a high point in the band's acclaimed career.
