Description

This is another sale from a my collection of classical records, which includes early stereo rarities on Decca, Columbia, HMV and RCA.

Recording First Published 1962 UK stereo pressing on Decca records of SET 239 of Dali in Venice opera. Giulio Confalonieri conducts Complesso Strumentale Italiano with Fiorenza Cossotto and Lorenzo Alvary singing. This is a Decca wide band 1st label, grooved with "Original Recording By" at 10 O' clock  The matrix numbers engraved on the run-out are ZAL-5398-1D & ZAL-5399-1D. Side 1 has 1C stamped in the run out. Side 2 has 1K stamped. The inner sleeve is period Decca ffss printed paper with polythene liner.

Grading

Visually graded the vinyl under a task lamp. Would visually grade  as VG,  there are sleeve/paper marks on both sides and spider marks around the spindle hole. Side 1 also has a few small faint scratches. Side 2 has a couple of longer scratches and a few smaller ones.  It plays well on my Linn Sondek, no skips or jumps. Side 1 has a tick near the start that runs for 2 mins 30 secs, another for 50 secs towards the end. A few pops then follow also. Side 2 has ticks that run for 10 secs about half way through. Right at the end during the Dali interview a dull pop runs for about 55 secs. Sleeve is in VG condition, a small tear on back sleeve (see photos) and some foxing on back inner sleeve (see photo). Some of the laminate has come away on front sleeve.

Note that record will be posted in a cardboard record mailer. Sleeve will be in a plastic sleeve, separate from the record and inner sleeve. Record and inner sleeve will be in a card sleeve.
