DECCA SXL 2006 UK WB Ed3 Mendelssohn Bruch VIOLIN RICCI
Description
DECCA SXL 2006 UK WB Ed3 Mendelssohn Bruch VIOLIN RICCI
This is one of a number of vinyl records from the 1950’s & 60’s listed this week which we no longer listen to. Little played, the records are still in very good condition, the covers sometimes less so. Gradings are based on the “Record Collector Magazine's Guide” set out in the eBay Guides together with notes about condition added. Extracts from the Gramophone Magazine review written at the time of the record’s release are included where these are available. RECORD GRADING VERY GOOD This classic recording by Ruggiero Ricci plays excellently despite having a number feint hairlines on both surfaces. Spindle marks on the labels do confirm it has been often played. It, however, is a very satisfying record to listen to with the wonderful Decca sound quality - which is really stunning. On side 1 there is light surface noise and some occasional light ticks/ clicks. Three of these are repetitive. I counted one of 5 after about 2 minutes, one of 6 after about 6 minutes and another of 5 after 81/4 minutes. They are noticeable but certainly not loud as one might hear from a damaging scratch. They did not mar my enjoyment of the record but you need to know they are there. Many of these light sounds on this record would, I am sure, disappear following a clean. The second movement of the Mendelssohn, always a good test of a record’s condition, plays without almost any distracting, unwanted sound. Side 2 On side 2 there is a little early surface noise and one, maybe two, of the hairlines do cause some repetitive clicks / pops during the first 5 minutes of this side - which are noticeable, though not loud. Thereafter the record plays very well indeed. COVER GRADING VERY GOOD The cover is structurally sound with only a couple of surface blemishes. The front face is a little rubbed and the record ring can be seen. There are some short fine creases visible in the laminate but the surface is not broken. The back is a little age discoloured and lightly soiled but the surface is unmarked and without any major damage. The record ring is again just visible. The original blue “FFSS” inner sleeve is undamaged but is a little age discoloured and one corner at the bottom has folding creases. I have no wish for you to be disappointed by your purchase. If you think the grading/description was unfair or unreasonable when you receive the record, you may return it and you will have a full refund of all that you have paid me. All I require is that you contact me within 7 days of its receipt to tell me you intend to return it, and that I receive the record in the same condition as it was when it was sent to you. MINT Record In brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality Cover In perfect condition, as are extra items such as thelyric sheet, booklet or poster EXCELLENT Record Shows signs of having been played, but with very little lessening in sound quality Cover Slight wear and / or creasing to the cover or its contents VERY GOOD Record Obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch Cover Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects GOOD Record Played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, and there may be some distortion and mild scratches Cover Suffers from folding, scuffed edges, spine splits, discolouration, etc.
