DECCA SXL 2222 WBGv BRAHMS PIANO RECITAL BACKHAUS
Description
This is one of a number of vinyl records from the 1950’s & 60’s listed this week which we no longer listen to. Little played, the records are still in very good condition, the covers sometimes less so. This week’s Listing also includes all 4 SXL recordings by Wilhelm Backhaus of Beethoven’s Five Piano Concertos Gradings are based on the “Record Collector Magazine's Guide” set out in the eBay Guides together with notes about condition added. Extracts from the Gramophone Magazine review written at the time of the record’s release are included where these are available. RECORD GRADING VERY GOOD veering towards EXCELLENT There are only some random hairlines on each side of this record. There are no damaging scratches or dents Side 1 plays very well with an occasional random light tick or pop, probably from dust. At the conclusion of band 5 (Romanza in F Major) there are 4 very light pops as the band concludes. Thereafter the side plays very nicely as before. Side 2 also plays very well with, again, the occasional random light tick or pop. There is a more persistent very light tick present during Band 4 (Intermezzo Op.116 No.6) where there is a very light hairline visible. This record would, I am sure, be better for a clean like so many of its vintage. COVER GRADING VERY GOOD veering towards EXCELLENT This is a very nice cover. Were it not for a ½ inch split at the top right corner and a ‘record ring’ which is just visible on the front and more so on the back, this cover would probably be graded Excellent. There is no other damage, the laminate is intact and not lifting The Inner Sleeve, the original blue FFSS, is Excellent. No splits or damage and not at all discoloured. I have no wish for you to be disappointed by your purchase. If you think the grading/description was unfair or unreasonable when you receive the record, you may return it and you will have a full refund of all that you have paid me. All I require is that you contact me within 7 days of its receipt to tell me you intend to return it, and that I receive the record in the same condition as it was when it was sent to you. MINT Record In brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality Cover In perfect condition, as are extra items such as thelyric sheet, booklet or poster EXCELLENT Record Shows signs of having been played, but with very little lessening in sound quality Cover Slight wear and / or creasing to the cover or its contents VERY GOOD Record Obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch Cover Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects GOOD Record Played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, and there may be some distortion and mild scratches Cover Suffers from folding, scuffed edges, spine splits, discolouration, etc.
