DECCA SXL 2246 WBGv Ed1 MENDELSSOHN IN SCOTLAND EXCELLENT   This is one of a number of vinyl records from the 1950’s & 60’s listed this week which we no longer listen to. Little played, the records are still in very good condition, the covers sometimes less so.   Gradings are based on the “Record Collector Magazine's Guide” set out in the eBay Guides together with notes about condition added. Extracts from the Gramophone Magazine review written at the time of the record’s release are included where these are available.   RECORD GRADING EXCELLENT   This is a bright and gleaming record which well demonstrates the wonderful, renowned Decca sound. On both sides the disc labels show almost no spindle marks and there are just a few very feint short hairlines but no damaging scratches or marks.   Both sides play very well and are a pleasure to listen to with very little surface noise, just an occasional light tick consistent with dust. There is one point, the last few revolutions on side 1, where these ticks are slightly more noticeable, but not intrusively so.   Like so many of the records of this vintage it would probably be even better following a clean but, as it is, it really is a pleasure to listen to.   COVER GRADING EXCELLENT   This is an excellent cover. Even the corners are not damaged. There is a little light soiling just at the very edges of the binding strips at the back and the record ring is faintly visible on both sides.   The inner sleeve, the original blue FFSS, is Excellent. It is undamaged, hardly creased and without discolouration.    I have no wish for you to be disappointed by your purchase. If you think the grading/description was unfair or unreasonable when you receive the record, you may return it and you will have a full refund of all that you have paid me.   All I require is that you contact me within 7 days of its receipt to tell me you intend to return it, and that I receive the record in the same condition as it was when it was sent to you.   MINT Record       In brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality Cover         In perfect condition, as are extra items such as thelyric sheet, booklet or poster   EXCELLENT Record       Shows signs of having been played, but with very little lessening in sound quality Cover         Slight wear and / or creasing to the cover or its contents   VERY GOOD Record       Obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch Cover         Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects   GOOD Record       Played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, and there may be some distortion and mild scratches Cover         Suffers from folding, scuffed edges, spine splits, discolouration, etc.
