Deep Purple : Come Taste The Band A1 / B1 1st Press
This first pressing plays to a wonderful standard with only minimal interference on S2, the vast majority of the side still plays with stunning quality. S1 is particularly impressive and has no background of any kind apart from a minor touch of light static on one intro.
The glossy gatefold is another highlight - to say it looks brand new is no exaggeration! It is so clean and has no wear at all, it is stunning! The lyric inner is also in superb condition.
This first press has EMI Records Ltd... around the labels and also the A1/B1 matrix. KENDUN is stamped on both run out grooves.

Visual grading
The vinyl is in superb condition and still has an lovely glossy sheen. There are no obvious marks or scratches and only a few very faint sleeve removal hairlines on both sides. S2 has one very small and faint fade area but this has no affect on the audio, it is not easy to find! The labels are very clean with not very much spindle wear.
Play grading
The intro on 'Comin' Home' plays with great quality with only a couple of barely audible dust ticks. The first verse and chorus play to perfection and it continues in the same way. The instrumental mid section is so powerful and Bolin's work is shown to good effect here. The playback is stunning and there is no distortion. The final vocal has just one very light tick that you could easily miss and overall this deserves a Mint- grade.
'Lady Luck' plays with a power and depth that shows this record has not been played that often. The only background is a little light static right at the end of the fade - I will grade as Mint- but even that seems a little harsh!
Little needs to be said about 'Gettin' Tighter' as it plays with stunning audio from start to finish with no intrusion. Mint
'Dealer' has just a very minimal amount of barely audible static right at the start and then the opening vocal plays perfectly. It proceeds in the same way with no interference and the gentler mid vocal has no background either. The remainder is faultless and Mint is again deserved.
'I Need Love' ends the side with superb audio and again no interference. No clicks or pops across the entire side! Mint
------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The intro on 'Drifter' plays with genuine precision and from then on the playback is impressive to say the least. The audio is so strong and deep and as I often say the original sonic quality is still there. The 'quieter' instrumental plays beautifully with only a couple of dust ticks and the final high octane section plays with genuine power and...no background. Mint
The intro on 'Love Child' has only minimal light static and as soon as Paice enters the scene it disappears. It then plays with stunning quality and again the audio has a genuine sense of depth helped in no small measure by Hughes' strong bass sound. No ticks, clicks or pops this is Ex+ on the intro and then Mint for the remainder.
'This Time Around' has a little static on the intro but again not very much. The opening vocal is very clear with just a minimal amount of static in the background and continues in much the same way. There are a couple of clicks just before the final verse but this vocal then plays so well with no interference. The final 'chorus' also plays with great clarity and only very minimal static. I think Ex is the right grade to give. 'Owed To 'G' then plays with stunning quality throughout with no sign of any interference. A couple of mega light ticks but not interference. Mint-
The quiet intro on 'You Keep Moving' plays so clearly with only a small number of very light static sounds. The opening vocal is close to perfect with just one light tick and as the volume and pace increase the audio is stunning. There is no interference during the mid instrumental and the following vocal is equally as good. There are 3/4 ticks during the next quiet vocal and then the final instrumental is superb! It plays with great power and there is no background. I will grade as Ex+ but as you can tell from my description the majority is stronger than that.
In summary this first pressing plays to a superb standard with very little intrusion. S1 does indeed play 'as new' and S2 only has a minimal amount of interference and is only ever very brief. The clarity and power of the audio is so impressive and there are certainly no loud clicks or pops. In hand with a stunning cover this album is in fine condition all round.
The Gatefold & Lyric Inner
The laminated cover is STUNNING and is basically 'as new'. You won't find a better one - the edges and spine are perfect and there is no corner wear apart from one tiny crease/rub bottom right. The opening is pristine and the front and back cover are totally unmarked. The inside is also immaculate. It has also kept its original shape and structure so well and has clearly hardly ever been handled. Superb!
The lyric inner is also in exceptional condition with no side splits or tears and only a couple of very minor creases. A couple of very small faint marks on 'S2' but they hardly deserve a mention they are so minor.
Play tested on my Pro-Ject Essential III Turntable // B & W 684 Speakers
