Deep Purple are an English rock band formed in Hertford in 1968. Along with Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath, they are considered to be among the pioneers of heavy metal and modern hard rock, although some band members believe that their music cannot be categorised as belonging to any one genre. The band incorporated classical music, blues-rock, pop and progressive rock elements. They were once listed by the Guinness Book of World Records as "the loudest pop group", and have sold over 100 million albums worldwide.

In October 1968, the group had success with a cover of Joe South's "Hush", which reached #4 on the US Billboard chart and #2 on the Canadian RPM charts. The song was taken from their debut album Shades of Deep Purple, which was released in July 1968, and they were booked to support Cream on their Goodbye tour.

Original 1968 pressing on Tetragrammaton Records. Not a re-issue, No barcode. This LP is STILL SEALED in it's original shrinkwrap. There are no punch holes or cut-outs. The corners are sharp, the shrink is tight, but has a small section in the upper right missing, from an obvious "price sticker" removal. There is no wear to the cover. The colors are great and it has no yellowing on the "white" back cover. This is a beautiful SEALED copy. LP is in nearly MINT condition.

Please Note: The back cover has "Jacket made in Canada" printed in the lower right corner. Canadian pressing were on the Polydor label. US pressing were on Tetragrammaton. The cover has the Tetragrammaton logo and catalog number (T-102). The spine states "Manufactured and distributed by Creative Sounds LTD, Philadelphia, PA."
Not quite sure what the story is on this, as Tetragrammaton was a small label, that didn't last long. Bid accordingly!

This is a 2nd pressing on Tetragrammaton Records by Creative Sounds, after they acquired the rights to the master recordings, from Tetragrammaton's bankruptcy. Pressed in the early 1980's.
