VINYL is VG+ / VG
Very glossy Vinyl has a few very light, non-feelable hairlines on Side 1 that are inaudible. Side 2 has  an area of surface scuff that is almost entirely inaudible, but is definitely visible; so while the LP plays Great throughout, I have to grade that side at VG. Clean labels both sides with no spindle marks.

COVER is VG+
Basically an EXCELLENT cover - but with definite flaw at top edge: small discoloration at center top edge - and small surface peel directly behind on back cover -from a removed braille 'dyno' type tape strip over seam that I thought would reveal a split seam. But there is NO split. Unfortunately this fragile cover surface could not allow 100% clean removal of this tenacious, thick tape, so small bit of residue/discoloration shows at top edge and just below seam on front (approx. 1 inch by 1/4 inch). Back cover surface peel is about 2 inches by 3/8 inch. None of this is drastic or particularly unsightly, and being right at the edge, it does not unduly distract, but it is the only LP in this entire group of Surf and Hot Rod LPs to be in less than truly excellent condition.

Cover is otherwise extremely clean, sharp and straight. Seams and spine 100% intact with no splits. No creases, soil or other marks.

RARE EARLY MATERIAL BY THE KING OF SURF GUITAR! 16 TRACKS!

Great Compilation of Dick Dale's early Deltone singles, flip sides, and obscure Capitol releases. Covers recordings from 1958 (early Deltone 45's) through 1965. Plenty of lead guitar; a mix of vocals and instros.

Dick Dale, known as The King of the Surf Guitar pioneered the surf music style, drawing on Eastern musical scales and experimenting with reverberation. He worked closely with Fender to produce custom made amplifiers, including the first-ever 100-watt guitar amplifier. He pushed the limits of electric amplification technology, helping to develop new equipment that was capable of producing distorted, "thick, clearly defined tones" at "previously undreamed-of volumes." The "breakneck speed of his single-note staccato picking technique" as well as his showmanship with the guitar is indeed actually considered a precursor to heavy metal music, influencing guitarists such as Jimi Hendrix and Eddie Van Halen among countless others.
