Back in the 80s, the band Dio released several picture discs. The majority of them were shaped picture discs, such as 'The Dio E.P.', released in 1986. It contained a total of four songs, three of which were found on Dio albums, and one that was previously unreleased, until it appeared in a movie, and its soundtrack.
That track, "Hide in the Rainbow", made it to the movie 'Iron Eagle' (the first one). It's a great song, and it fit right in with Queen, King Kobra, Helix, and the other hard rock and heavy metal bands that are on the soundtrack. The three other tracks on this EP can be found on the first three Dio albums. And the A side's artwork is a variation of the third album's ('Sacred Heart') cover art. The wild crystal ball! The B side is song titles and credits, as well as the artwork for the first three albums!
And to make this an actual double shot, you'll also get the 7" picture disc for the single "Mystery", taken from the second Dio album called 'Last In Line'! A live version of "Eat Your Heart Out" is on the B side, along with song titles and credits. Check out Murray on the A side as a part of the classic logo, and Murray again, on the B side, in a red, fiery glow! Vintage Dio, and a couple of very cool collectibles from heavy metal's golden age...how awesome is that? For Dio fans, fans of 80s metal, and collectors of cool old picture discs. Dio may be gone, but he won't be forgotten anytime soon!
