Dion Francis DiMucci, better known mononymously as Dion, is an American singer and songwriter. His music incorporates elements of doo-wop, pop, rock, R&B, folk and blues. Initially the lead singer of the vocal group Dion and the Belmonts, Dion embarked on a solo career, and was one of the most prominent rock and roll performers of the pre-British Invasion era. He had 39 Top 40 hits in the late 1950s and early 1960s as a solo performer, or with the Belmonts and the Del-Satins. He is best remembered for his signature hit songs "Runaround Sue", "The Wanderer", "Ruby Baby" and "Lovers Who Wander", among others.[18]Dion continued making music after his popularity waned in 1964, and for the rest of the decade he diversified his style, fervently exploring country and urban blues while recording electric folk rock. The album, Runaround Sue is the first solo album by Dion, released in 1961 by Laurie Records. This particular album is a 1961 release on the Laurie Record label and was pressed and released during the initial November 1961 launch window. The album consists of 12 tracks with a run time of 30+ minutes.The cover is in EX condition and is enclosed in it's original poly vinyl outer sleeve. There is no wear along the edges and corners. There are no split seams, bent corners or evidence of disc ring wear (see photos). The inner sleeve consisted of a poly vinyl sleeve that is intact though it does show its age. I have replaced it with a heavy paper poly vinyl encased sleeve and will include the original sleeve on shipment. The record has been cleaned and tested using Audacity. All tracks are free of skips. There is some mild background noise consisting of an occasional "click" that does not impact on the music. The vinyl surfaces are free of obvious defects, such as scratches or scuffs. This is a single owner album and the collector knew how to care for his records. By Goldmine standards for grading records, this recording would rate VG+.
