Yes, there's millions of cheap copies of this album around because it sold in astronomical sums, mostly on CD. But not one later presssing or remaster sounds as remotely good as the original MASTERDISK pressing does, and they are getting harder to find in clean playing condition these days. Everything on this cut is right: firm, tight bass and bottom end, crisp, alert, punchy drums and mids, awesome gritty guitars and singing upper mids. None of that horrid CD shrillness at the top and no warm thump at the bottom. Ludwig mastered albums are usually as good as it gets, check out his Led Zeppelin II, and his Brothers in Arms. When you hear this pressing, you'll wonder why all the others are so bad. We only ever bother offering Dire Straits albums that are mastered by Robert Ludwig, the rest are pretty much a waste of your time and ears. Unfortunately, there are a few that he didn't cut....more's the pity...If you love this album, then you have to hear a Robert Ludwig mastered copy before you shuffle off your mortal coil.

DISC: EXCELLENT MINUS. NO SCRATCHES AND NO NOTICEABLE SPINDLE WEAR, JUST A FEW LIGHT HAIRLINES AND A LITTLE DUSTY. A SPLENDID PLAYING COPY WITH SUPERB AUDIO. NO SKIPS OR JUMPS, NO NOTICEABLE GROOVE WEAR, AND NO DETRIMENTAL SURFACE NOISES.
