This is a stellar jazz jam session featuring the brilliant Dizzy Gillespie, trumpet; Pepper Adams, arguably the best baritone sax ever; and Ray Nance’s great jazz violin. Chick Corea is on piano; Richard Davis, bass; Elvin Jones splits the drumming duties with Mel Lewis.

The tunes give everyone a chance to stretch out, Side One consists of Blue for Max and Lullaby of the Leaves and Side Two is devoted to Lover Come Back to Me.

This original stereophonic recording was released as Jazz for a Sunday Afternoon Volume I (of 3) on Solid State SS 18027 in 1968. The label has yellow and black backgrounds with black and white printing.

This is an exciting record and I play-graded this album NM-.

Visually the vinyl has good shine, and a few minor paper scuffs. I graded the vinyl EX-.

The gatefold cover has good graphics, but the black background shows some wear on the front and ringwear on the back. The inside of the gatefold is very clean. All four corners have dings and the edges have a little wear. I would grade it VG+.
