According to the credits, Axis is by DMS and Darkage is by Solo & DMS. I'm not sure why DMS wasn't credited in the title, especially on such a big 12"!  Reply  Report  Notify me  Helpful somatic  somatic Nov 29, 2009 referencing Axis / Darkage, 12", Promo, W/Lbl, DJ SOLO, DJ SOLA
This is the first release of Darkage & Axis on white label, i bought my copy off DJ Solo when he worked in YES! Recordz in Sutton, Surrey with DJ's Rise & Shine. the labels are hand written but title's on the wrong sides, i've had 2 copies like this so they may all be like that.  Reply  Report  Notify me  Helpful – 1 edsthreads  edsthreads Nov 27, 2009 edited over 3 years ago

The scratching by DJ Devine on 'Axis' is sublime (especially the first scracth after about 1 min in) It is one of my favourite scratch attacks ever - I have to listen to it on 33 to understand how he pulls off some of his moves!  Reply  Report  Notify me  Helpful – 1 kevdasrobot  as reviewed by kevdasrobot Sep 16, 2007 referencing Axis / Darkage, 12", PNT 050

Darkage is one of the finest examples of hardcore rave evolving into jungle / drum & bass. A prototype for jungle, it was a rave and radio anthem for most of 1993. Stuttering beats start the track off, these are quickly backed up with a simple but devastating bassline which defines the whole track. The intro also contains vocals "and everyday .... and every night..." repeated. Ravey stabs and noises then join in the fun until the tune really 'drops' with a ragga "jungalist" sample. Superb. Axis is a decent enough track and would be recognisable to most who were raving in 93 especially in the South / London. It just suffers from Darkage being so god damn good.  Reply  Report  Notify me  Helpful puzl_munkey  as reviewed by puzl_munkey Sep 07, 2003 referencing Axis / Darkage, 12", PNT 050

'darkage' is an anthem for sure... a quality slice of history right here
