Description

This is a great compilation - it's entitled 'Doctor Soul' on the original UK Sue label from 1967 (catalogue no. ILP 943). It's a mono recording. The record features some superb soul and R 'n' B artists as follows : - Joe Simon, Nat Kendrick and the Swans, The Naturals, Preston Epps Trio, The Volumes, King Curtis amd the Noble Knights, Chuck Flamingo, Jerry Butler, Shep and the Limelites, Wade Donald, Gene Allison, James Carr, Sugar Pie De Santo and The Impressions. The sleeve which is laminated on the front is not in perefect condition. There is creasing on the front and there is a 60 mm (two and a half inch) split on the spine which obscures the wording. The edges are in reasonable condition. There is also some ballpen wrfiting on the rear of the sleeve. I have graded the sleeve VG only. The record, however, plays superbly on both sides with minimal surface noise and almost no pops or clicks. There are some superficial marks but these don't dxetract from the quality. There are spindle marks on both labels and the matrix numbers on the run-off grooves are - side one - ILP 943 A+ and - side two - ILP 943 B+. The record has been graded Ex-.
