Description
This is DOCUMENT by R.E.M., 1st PRESS 1987 UK LP. I bought this on its release in the UK in 1987.
The LP is an original first pressing on the I.R.S.Records label, numbered MIRG 1025, and the matrix numbers in the vinyl runout are:
- side 1: MIRG25 - A2 and etched with "DAMON1" (and also an etched name in small writing that is hard to read as it is so small)
- side 2: MIRG25 - B2
This 1st press release is documented on the DISCOGS website.
I use the "Record Collectors Grading System" which can be viewed on the Record Collector website.
I use "+" and "-" to provide a more precise grading, where a record sits between 2 grades.
VINYL
Audio Quality
During play test, it played like a new record, quiet between tracks and is hence rated NM for audio quality.
Visual Appearance
Visually the vinyl looks like a new record, with no noticeable spindle marks.
Even when held to a strong light, side 2 looks perfect, and side 1 has just a couple of barely-visible thin surface scuff lines
Hence, the vinyl is rated a strong EX+ for visual appearance
COVER
The non-laminated cover, is in really excellent shape, especially for a record that is nearly 35 years old.
The cover only has very minor wear on the corners, with an excellent spine, and top and bottom edges.
The rating for the cover is EX+
INNER SLEEVE
The original inner sleeve is included and is also rated EX+
The record will be posted in a MusicMAX STRONG LOCKTAB RECORD MAILER, with 2 x stiffeners
