In 1991, the band DOMAIN released their third LP titled “Crack In The Wall”. Since I was a huge fan of this group and had the first two LPs in my collection, I of course also got this record. When I studied the cover, I found that the band consisted of only 4 members. A regular keyboard player was no longer represented in the line-up. The founding members of the band (Cliff Jackson, Bernd Kolbe and Axel Ritt) were still there and that was a good thing! When I listened to the LP for the first time, I noticed two things at once: the songs were consistently harder than on the two predecessors and the melodies were still sufficiently available, but now they were a little more in the background. It just rocked more and harder than before. The use of the keyboards was no longer so dominant and the guitars were now clearly in the foreground. Was this an improvement or a downside to DOMAIN? Well - this depends on the point of view. It took me some time and it took a lot of LP passes to make friends with the “new” style of DOMAIN. This record has its very special charm, but it is not immediately apparent to you (at least that was the case for me).

I own the first three records of DOMAIN on both LP and CD and can highly recommend any follower of melodic hard rock to buy these album. Meanwhile, these albums can also be obtained at a reasonably reasonable price (which was not the case before).
My rating: 5 stars (some nostalgia certainly plays a role here).
P.S.: After this LP, DOMAIN dissolved. A few years later, Axel Ritt brought the band back to life. But apart from him there was no original member! And you could tell that too. Jackson and Kolbe (now active again with EPITAPH) were missing at all corners and the releases of the new DOMAIN could not compete with the class of LPSfrom 1988 - 1991 in any way. Sorry Axel - but that's the way I see it!
