Description
Here is a very rare UK Jazz rarity LP by the Don Rendell & Ian Carr Quintet with the title Shades Of Blue. It is a UK 1st press LP on Columbia EMI Records from 1965 on the Lansdowne Series with Cat No 33SX 1733 Side 1 has 1st press 1U Matrix and also Mother Stampers 1R. Side 2 has 1st press 1U Matrix and also Mother Stampers 1P. I have read there were only 500 of these 1st presses made in 1965. Side 1 has some feint light marks - visually VG+ Side 2 has some feint light marks - visually VG+ I have play tested this LP on my Thorens TD 160 Turntable as seen in my 12 photos and it has really nice seperation and superb full punchy magnificent clear audio both sides. Side 1 has some light background in places and some light ticks mainly on track 1. Play graded VG+ Side 2 has some light background in places and some light ticks mainly on track 1 and on track 3 there are 8 clicks and then after a few rotations another 16 clicks. Play graded VG+ There are no skips or jumps on this LP and the listening experience on my turntable is thoroughly enjoyable even with the aforementioned analysis above and the audio is very clear and not distorted at all. Both of the labels are EX with just a few spindle trails. The Garrod & Lofthouse Ltd Patents Pending front laminated flipbacked sleeve has a fully legible spine and has no splits-just some laminate splitting at the bottom left side of sleeve as seen in photo1 that does not go right through the sleeve and some light creasing. It still displays very well-graded VG. The correct Emitex tracing paper type inner sleeve is EX. All in all this is a very nice example of this UK Jazz Masterpiece that has been play tested and plays very nicely.
