The Audiophile Choice – 1964 Blue Note Stereo "Ear" Pressing
Up for sale is a professional-grade copy of Donald Byrd’s masterpiece, A New Perspective. This is the highly coveted 1964 Stereo pressing, essential for experiencing the massive choral and orchestral scope of this session.
The Definitive "Plastylite" Pressing:
The Deadwax: Features the legendary "p" (Plastylite "ear") and the VAN GELDER stamp on both sides. This signifies it was pressed using the original master metal parts at the peak of Blue Note’s manufacturing quality.
The Mix: This is the Stereo version (BST 84124). For an album featuring a full gospel choir, the stereo separation is vital—providing a deep, immersive soundstage that the mono mix simply cannot match.
The Sound: A "Nuclear" analog experience. The transition into "Cristo Redentor" is breathtakingly clear, with the wide brass and vocal arrangements filling the room.
Condition & Play-Grade (Conservative VG+):
Vinyl: Conservative VG+ grade. The vinyl shows high luster with very light surface wear. Side A has a few faint hairlines/light marks that do not affect play. Side B is exceptionally clean. This copy was play-graded: it sounds incredible from start to finish with big, clear audio.
Jacket (VG+): The original heavy-stock jacket is in beautiful shape. Front artwork is vibrant; spine is strong.
Inner Sleeve: Includes the original Blue Note era-appropriate inner sleeve.
