Description
Original press of Donald Byrd's 1972 jazz-funk Ethiopian Knights on Blue Note Division of United Artists label. Donald Byrd was one of those Blue Note artists who continued to thrive and evolve in the post Bop and Be-bop era with varying success. The jazz-funk and jazz-fusion fans are likely familiar with this set. Even the non-fan could very well enjoy it This vinyl is unusual in that it's heavy vinyl for the time period -156 grams. It is also a deep-groove pressing on both sides. Additionally, VAN GELDER is stamped in the runout. It wasn't recorded at his studio, but at A&M Records. He didn't produce or master it, but he did remix it, and it shows on this stereo recording. Wilton Felder,(Bass) Bill Henderson,(Piano)and Bobby Hutcherson,(Vibraphone) are among the session's artists.
Condition- Vinyl: EX+ Vinyl retains it's original gloss, and has been well taken care of. Under bright light there is only 1 hairline scratch om side 1, but it isnot feelable or audible. There is some light splindle marking on the labels. The sonics are good and it appears to have been well recorded.
Sleeve: VG Moderate ring wear on front and back sides. Someone has written their initials on the front. The spine is cracked and the bottom has moderate wear with only the begininng of a split at the opening, the spine is cracked for most of it's length, so most print is not legible.
