Fairytale finds Donovan evolving his style especially on songs such as "Summer Day Reflection Song" and "Jersey Thursday".
"Sunny Goodge Street" has the feel and descriptions of London life in that Donovan would continue with over the next two years. Like his previous album, Fairytale primarily features Donovan singing and playing with very little augmentation or frills.
Good British folk without detracting over dramatic nuances!
Mr Leitch had already met with Dylan in the US, but was soon to join the similarly curious Fab Four in Wales, in search of spiritual enlightenment, and like The Beatles his music was making progress to a more psych transition - an exciting period in music and youth culture.
This is definitely a more assured album from Donovan, yet didn't gain as much success as his debut lp, or the excellent 60s singles.
In my opinion it's a quality album and reflects the time as well as Dylan's recordings - and has similarities with Swingin' London flavours that The Kinks' Ray Davies was expressing!
CONDITION;
VINYL is superb, visually VG++ to EXCELLENT and sounds great, only light sleeve scuff visible under bright light.?
LABLES are EX.
The Single Sleeve COVER is VG with only light signs of handling wear, but some pin holes near the top seam.
