Description

Here is a twelve inch 33rpm record of Doris Day made for Fan clubs in England.  It's old. It's worn but I played it on my record player and it sounded fine. I would think these are more of a collectible than something you'd play over and over again anyway. The audio quality while good is low which I imagine is inherent from the original transfers.

This recording was originally made on Doris Day's home tape machine. The tape was then sent to England where, I'm assuming, it was transfered to 33rpm recordings so all the fans could have a copy.

Side 1 of this recording is called JUST FOR YOU. Recorded April 30 1956. Run time approximately 15 minutes.

Included on this side Doris talks about shooting TEACHER'S PET with Clark Gable, her DAY BY DAY album, September release for PAJAMA GAME.  While she's talking Marty answers the phone and Doris leaves for a moment to talk to Gig Young. When she turns the tape back on she says Gig Young is coming over for a visit. I wonder if Gig was bringing Elizabeth Montgomery. Doris mentions her recordings of Rickety Rackety Rendevous. and Through The Eyes Of Love, a possible picture with good friend Dean Martin and wanting to play tennis when she stops filiming TEACHER'S PET.

Side 2 is called AT HOME WITH DORIS DAY. Recorded October 28, 1956. Run time approximately 15 minutes.

Included on this side are comments from both Doris' Mom and husband Marty Melcher. Doris talks about recovering from an operation, the release of Julie and it's title song. She mentions starting PAJAMA GAME, remodeling her new home and son Terry's schooling. Doris also comments about WHAT DID YOU PUT IN THAT KISS. Even Marty gets off the couch to say hello to the fans.

Quite a lot is covered in this brief time. What a great lady to give so much of herself to her fans. A real time capsule.

I have two similar Doris Day fan club records up for auction at this time. One is a 8 inch record the other 10 inch. Both are 33 rpm as well.
