Description
DR. HOOK Sloppy Seconds Cover Of The Rolling Stone SHEL SILVERSTEIN PROMO NM/VG
LP surfaces are graded: NM condition. Sleeve is graded: VG condition. There’s writing on the rear sleeve in permanent marker, and a few credits are crossed out on the rear. Aus Warenrechtlichen Gurten Muss Dieses Etikett Überklebt Werden (which translates roughly to: “This label must be pasted over”) is on a rectangular sticker on the sleeve as well as on PROMO stickers that cover the entire label on both sides of the record. A German PROMOTIONAL copy produced in the US with the aforementioned unique labels in German I’ve never run across. The sleeve shows MINOR signs of ring wear, slightly rounded corners, and signs of compression probably due to the record being stacked rather than stored vertically. Has WORLD OF MUSIC price sticker on front cover.
There’s so much to recommend on DR. HOOK’s Sloppy Seconds, from the band’s biggest hit The Cover Of The Rolling Stone, to Queen Of The Silver Dollar which was later recorded by Emmylou Harris. The songs are all great thanks to the sure-hit songwriting pen of SHEL SILVERSTEIN. Dr. Hook (formerly Dr. Hook & The Medicine Show) could do it all. From hippie weirdness like Get My Rocks Off and Freakin’ At The Freaker’s Ball, to country-tinged weepers like Carry Me Carrie. Dr. Hook don’t get the props that bands like The Byrds & The Eagles do for furthering the popularity of country rock—but they certainly deserve it. A CBS Records reissue (31622) that’s a German PROMOTIONAL copy with unique labels I’ve never run across.
