Crying Over You

There were only 32 records on the little Impact Records label, but several of them have turned into Northern Soul classics. This is one of the best of 'em all. It's Duke Browner and "Crying Over You."

For the most part, Barney Browner, aka 'Duke', was a producer working around Detroit. The record immediately before his, was The Shades Of Blue's recording of "Oh, How Happy." When it went to #1 in Detroit, then hit nationally, it probably sucked off all the promotion that would have normally gone to push "Crying Over You." The record barely sold, but subsequently became a huge favorite with Northern Soul fans an ocean away.

Here's a clean promo pressing that's ready to find a new home. It's got the vocal version on one side, and the instrumental on the other.
