DV8 GUNS 7” 1981 KBD naked raygun the exit effigies
SearchDV8 – Learn To Say Goodbye b/w Guns On The Right. Tough Records NAP TR 001. Issued in 1981.
Right up there with the EXIT 7”, one of the rarest and best records of early Chicago punk.
WITH THE PICTURE SLEEVE (silkscreened picture sleeve that was “only issued with a handful of copies”.):
Near mint for the two part (back and front) fairly awesome looking silkscreened sleeve artwork on two pieces of heavy cardboard .I’d say VG++ usually to be safe, but I can’t find any flaw in the two part silkscreened sleeve
VINYL: solid NM, play graded.
DV8 were an early Chicago punk band who played around 1981-1982. MEMBERS: Lorin Klugman, Eric Spicer, and Bob Hanchett They opened up for Black Flag and released this sole 7-inch, both in 1981. Bob and Eric went to high school together in Traverse City, MI. They moved to Chicago in 1979 for "the lack of anything better to do". Bob and Lorin met at The Chicago Mercantile Exchange, where they worked. A couple years after DV8 split up, Eric joined Naked Raygun from 1984 to 1992, filling the big shoes of their former drummer Jim Colao. Lorin and Bob never joined another band.
In the (amazing) Chicago punk Documentary “You Weren’t There”, in the extras section on the DVD they talk about the “DV8 House” and it’s place in the scene. .. but sadly DV8 or the Exit don’t get mentioned elsewhere in the film.
Right up there with the EXIT 7”, one of the rarest records in Chicago punk
More Info:
“DV8's "Guns on the Right" (Chicago, 1981), an almost hardcore track which absolutely jumps out of the speakers. Like the Cowboys' "Supermarket", this was the B-side to a very different sounding track, showing that at least one member of DV8 must have been a huge fan of the Clash. That band is probably responsible for the vast majority of punk bands experimenting with reggae and ska sounds, and while a lot of the resulting songs are stinkers, this one isn’t at all”
