Das Janácek Quartett bringt uns die hervorragendste und beste bisher aufgenommene Interpretation des F-dur Streichquartetts ("das Amerikanische") von Dvo?ák. Das d-moll Quartett profitiert stark von der besseren Ausgewogenheit der Aufnahme, besonders im langsamen Satz ... eine ausgezeichnete und idiomatische Leistung. Ich empfehle diese LP wärmstens. Die Leistung der Janá?ek’s schien mir die beste, die wir je hatten, und sie wird nicht übertroffen. Grammophon
The Janác?ek’s bring us the finest and best recorded performance so far of the F major ("American"). The D minor gains greatly from the better balanced recording, especially in the slow movement ... this is a distinguished and idiomatic performance. I warmly recommend this disc. The Janác?ek’s performance seemed to me the best we had ever had and it is not surpassed. - Gramophone Elman still plays with charm and elegance ... In this batch of pieces, where the encore wags the concert, so to speak, Elman and Seiger combine war-horses and novelties in captivating manner. I was charmed by the exotic "From San Domingo", by Arthur Benjamin, with its echoes of guitars and popular songs. Charles Miller’s "Cubanaise" ... (its) vivacious rhythms and sonorous middle section are most appealing. Perhaps the item that most listeners will fall for is Elman’s arrangement of the so-called "Canto Amoroso" by Sammartini, an encore which Elman has made peculiarly his own. - Gramophone
