Description
An incredible opportunity to own a definitive piece of punk history. This is the genuine 1977 UK first pressing of The Damned’s debut album, released on Stiff Records (SEEZ 1).
This copy is the earliest variant, featuring the elusive "No Island Logo" back cover—issued before the Island Records distribution branding was added to the sleeve.
Audio / Matrix Details:
This is the legendary "Hot" mastering by George "Porky" Peckham. The runout grooves feature the iconic hand-etched messages:
Side A: SEEZ 1 A1 “A PORKY PRIME CUT”
Side B: SEEZ 1 B1 “THE SOUND IS IN THE PLASTIC”
Both sides include the "EG" mastering initials.
Condition:
Vinyl (EX): Beautiful glossy sheen. Only a few very light paper scuffs visible under strong light. Plays with the raw, punchy power this Porky cut is famous for. No skips or loud pops.
Sleeve (EX): The original fully laminated sleeve is in fantastic shape. Brilliant color, crisp edges, and no peeling. The spine is solid and fully legible.
Labels: Clean yellow/orange Stiff labels. No writing or spindle wear.
Why this copy?
Most copies found today are later pressings or have heavily damaged sleeves. This "No Island" variant with the A1/B1 matrix is the "holy grail" for Damned collectors, representing the album exactly as it hit the shelves in February '77.
