Up for auction is a used copy of one of the most famous and influential underground releases in music history: DJ Danger Mouse's 'The Grey Album'.
Geniusly layering Jay-Z’s 'The Black Album' vocal acapellas entirely over masterfully chopped beats sampled from The Beatles' self-titled 'White Album', this record became an instant cultural phenomenon upon its release in 2004. Due to high-profile copyright disputes at the time, this album was never officially sanctioned or commercially distributed, meaning every physical vinyl copy in existence is an elusive underground pressing. It remains a essential holy grail for hip-hop historians and vinyl collectors alike.
CONDITION REPORT (Based on actual photos of this copy):
Vinyl Disc: Used condition. Shows some typical light surface hairlines and wispy sleeve marks under direct light from play and handling, but retains a nice gloss.
Sleeve / Jacket: Clean and sturdy condition overall. The iconic minimalist grey jacket with the clear spot-gloss 'The Grey Album' and 'DJ Dangermouse' text stamps is well preserved. Very minor standard corner and edge shelf wear from storage, with no major splits, tears, or heavy dings.
