The early Danko Jones gigs were incredible. He was so wound up, so possessed...like a Baptist Minister on fire. JC with his shaved head and fedora looked so cool as he pounded away on bass. They were young and wild and every show was an event. I probably saw them play 10 times by 1998, usually opening for a bigger, better known band. Without a doubt, they made the headliners nervous. They were that good. Years later, all the other bands are gone and Danko Jones is still around.
It seemed like it took forever before their first record came out, and when it did, only 500 were pressed. Sugar Chocolate was a great choice for their first single. The song really typifies the energy and dynamics of their early material. Not as powerful as the live show...but how could it have the same impact? There's no way to record an atomic explosion.
The cover is a little wrinkled, with some minor staining, but the record is pristine. It was rarely played because my turntable broke down soon after I bought this record and I never replaced it. Overall, a very nice item that very rarely shows up on eBay. Bid now, or cry the bitter tears of regret later.
