Description

ITEM DESCRIPTION:

This beautiful 10” LP from Pathé (33 DT 1016, French Pathe-Marconi pressing, green/silver label, mono – no stereo edition exists) features the wonderful Jeanne-Marie Darré in a brilliant traversal of Chopin’s 12 Etudes for Piano, Op. 10, recorded on 3 July 1952 at the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées, Paris. The crystalline beauty of her playing, with no loss of fire or insight, is a thing of wonder and delight. Incidentally, Darre plays a Gaveau Piano.

The striking cover art is by Pierre Leroy and the notes on the reverse side (in French only) are by Serge Berthoumieux.

CONDITION:

The gradations of condition I use are as follows: MINT, Near-Mint, Excellent, Very Good, Good, Fair, Poor.

The condition of the jacket is near-MINT. There is edgewear, minor creasing, slight bumping at corners, and discoloration. However, the album is free of seamsplits, owners' markings or other defects, and the whole remains solid and bright – overall, a fine collector's copy.

The condition of the LP itself is VERY GOOD. Although the surfaces are not CD silent (there is light surface noise), in general the playback is quite good. If you must have a flawless or near-MINT copy, then you are advised to look elsewhere. Overall, this is a good collector’s copy.
