Description

Song of Innocence is a groundbreaking debut album by composer, arranger, and producer David Axelrod, released in 1968 by Capitol Records (ST 2982).

Inspired by the poetry of William Blake, Axelrod created an ambitious work that fused jazz, rock, orchestral music, funk, and psychedelic influences into a cinematic instrumental suite unlike anything being produced at the time.

The vinyl is in very good condition. I'm grading the cover as very good because there is some sort of black-on-black motteling that can be seen in a certain light.

Matrix / Runout (A-side runout): ST-1-2982-H-3 (see corresponding photo)
Matrix / Runout (B-side runout): ST-2-2982-H-3 (see corresponding photo)

Vinyl Grading: VG+
Sleeve Grading: VG

I use the standard Goldmine Grading Guide:

Mint (M):
Absolutely perfect. A truly sealed or unplayed record. Discogs sellers rarely use this grade, as even new items can have minor factory flaws.

Near Mint (NM or M-): Nearly perfect. The record shows no obvious wear, plays smoothly with no imperfections, and the cover has zero creases, folds, or seam splits.

Very Good Plus (VG+): Shows slight signs of use. The vinyl may have light scuffs or minor marks that do not affect the music. The cover may have light handling wear.

Very Good (VG): Noticeable wear. Surface noise is audible during quiet parts of the track, and light scratches may be felt with a fingernail. The cover may have writing, tape, or ring wear.

Good (G) / Good Plus (G+): Plays through without skipping, but has heavy surface noise, scratches, and groove wear. The cover has major splits, tape, or heavy damage.

Fair / Poor: Heavily damaged. It skips, jumps, or is cracked. It is only kept for collection fillers or scrap.
