Description

This is an original FIRST PRESSING copy of David Bowie's classic 1973 album Aladdin Sane.  RCA Victor, UK pressing. This is from my own collection of many years and has been very well looked after.  It has been stored vertically in a plastic sleeve with the vinyl stored in a new anti-static white sleeve outwith the cover and inner lyric sleeve to preserve their condition.

The vinyl is in EXCELLENT- condition.   It has been played right through and carefully checked - plays extremely well with no jumps, skips or material clicks or pops.   The sound quality is superb.   Visually, under close inspection under strong daylight there is only some light marking / paper scuffing but nothing which affects playback hence E- grading.

The matrix numbers are the ORIGINAL FIRST PRESS 3T 3T endings matrices.

The labels are the original glossy orange labels only found on the first issues of all Bowie albums and not the matt orange labels found on even the slightly later pressings. These are in excellent condition.  I’ve closed in on the photos to show this as best as possible.

The sleeve is the correct first matt print, Robert Stace cover and is also EXCELLENT-.  Everyone's interpretation of grading differs so I have used the maximum number of photos to show how how good the condition of the sleeve is.  Importantly in identifying a first print of the sleeve is that this has the red and royal blue colours on the rear of the sleeve used for the Bowie outline.   Later sleeve prints had different colours – magenta and cyan were used so more of a pink and turquoise effect.   The Aladdin Sane sleeves, being mostly white are usually worn and have heavy staining, but this one is in very clean condition with very strong colours.  There is no ring wear or ring scuffing and only the slightest of age discolouring. This FIRST PRESSING sleeve is made of heavy cardboard and sits flat (re-issues have got flimsier sleeves).  It's unusual to get a first printing of this white sleeve in such good condition as this.

Comes with original lyric inner sleeve which is in EXCELLENT condition.  The inner sleeve is thick cardboard and not the thinner stuff used in later re-presses.

The vinyl will be delivered as it has been stored, in a new white anti-static inner sleeve and the sleeve in a protective plastic cover.

Please look closely at the photos to see condition of the items as these form the visual description.  I have added the maximum number of photos to show all the main features of this highly collectable piece.

Please ask any questions before bidding. Happy to answer anything asked.

Will be packaged robustly and well protected.
