Description

An original winter1971 copy of Hunk Dory - with TITANIC PUBLISHING. Matrix 3E/4E. Not very 1st pressing - those copies are highly sought after.... But from a few months later. And everyone knows the story - Bowie shot to stardom six months later with STARDUST. When Hunky Dory was out he was still a relative unknown. The 1971 copies are distinctively heavy-set with shiny orange labels. And 1971 copies must exhibit original TITANIC [pre-Stardust] publishing. There's also an generic company inner and lyric insert. So, 100% genuine and 100% complete.
Vinyl (Ex/Ex-) In lovely condition and has only seen light use. Excellent lustre. Under close inspection there are a couple of light marks per side - nothing heavy or troublesome though. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly EXCELLENT level of playback with minor deviation in a couple of spots. Lovey quiet intros and inbetweens and the audio comes across with excellent clarity. A great player throughout. You might detect a few light crackles low in the mix in the quietest moments....e.g. intro to Pretty Things..18 Line Poem is incredibly fussy and plays very well with just the odd minor crackle here and there [much better than you typically find]. Intro to Bewley bros is superb - many copies do not play this one clean. A couple of ticks in the Warhol introduction...but the track is playing absolutely superb. Overall a high standard and clean enough to really start to see the genius behind this, at the time, overlooked classic.
Cover (Vg+) Surfaces are in really great condition. You won't find a much better front that that - excellent colour retention. Please note there's some edge wear in places - which has been tidied up with sharpie. Overall looking pretty dapper...with just some light tape residue evident on top and bottom edge of rear. And a sticker removal top left on front. Firm sharp openings. Barely a crease anywhere. Spine text is mostly legible with only light wear. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity.
