BIOGRAPHY
The tour was Bowie's most ambitious, featuring a giant set designed to evoke "Hunger City", the post-apocalyptic setting for Diamond Dogs, backed up by Bowie's largest touring band to date.
The first leg of the tour ran from 14th June to 20th July 1974.
Jules Fischer, Mark Ravitz along with co-designer and constructor Chris Langhart created giant elaborate set-pieces costing over $250,000 - a vast sum in 1974.
Fisher's role was to bring Bowie's vision for a dystopian, theatrical set inspired by 1984, German Expressionist cinema and Fritz Lang's Metropolis (1927) and Robert Wiene's The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari (1920) - this influence on the tour design was largely driven by Bowie's own interest in German expressionism.
David Live was a commercial success on its release, reaching number two in the UK charts and hitting the top 10 in the United States and Canada.
The David Live LP is rated 4.17 / 5 on Discogs.
