I am sadly selling off my Bowie collection, this first item being the most prized piece: the original Mercury (6338041) Man Who Sold the World dress cover, from 1970.
The record looks to be in very good+ condition. Side one has no discernible damage at all, and on close inspection the spindle area shows only a few spindle marks. Side two has a few more spindle marks, under close inspection; it has one surface scratch which is only cosmetic, and one small gouge on track one, which causes a tk...tk...tk halfway through the track, though the needle does not skip.
I have played the record once, both sides, and there was no skipping. The record lays flat on both sides.
The cover is in good condition. The edges are worn and there are three small areas of damage (all photographed): a centimetre-long split halfway up on the open end on the front; a small burn mark on the front above the Mercury logo; and on the rear a 1cm x 3cm area where the photograph has been removed, no doubt when a price label was pulled off (someone has penciled this area in, to try to match with the grey of the back cover).
The producer's name is misspelt: "Tonny Visconti" on the black label.
A hugely collectable item.
