Description

David Bowie - The Wembley Wizard Touches the Dial vinyl LP 1979

Hallowien Jack Records

Rare David Bowie release with an interesting story to it (see below).

"Recorded live at Wembley Stadium London, England. 7/5/76"
In B/W picture cover and white label disc.

Cover, disc and inner sleeve all in excellent condition with only a few minor scuffs commensurate with its age.

Originally released in Japan by a Japanese label, Marc, as "Don't Touch That Dial", with a single production run of 2,000. Japanese law at the time allowed the production and sale of any LPs by non-JASRAC artists, so long as the recording had been made before 1978. Thus, the original Marc release was perfectly legal under Japanese law.

This bootleg was then released by the BPI in order to track down and bust a chain of bootleggers (Operation Moonbeam). The result was successful. Because of the success of this sting operation, only a small part of the stock came in circulation. "Stay" is not listed on the cover. Content is same as LP "Don't Touch That Dial" (1976/77).

I will mail this LP out in specially designed cardboard mailers for vinyl LPs; or if you are near Bordon in Hampshire (just off the A3) you can come and collect (cash on collection preferred; please message me if this is your intention so I can adjust the invoice accordingly.)
