Description

David Bowie - World Of David Bowie - Decca Factory Sample LP UK 1970

The item for sale is a Factory Sample pressing of the World of David Bowie on the Decca label (SPA 58).

The matrix numbers in the run out are ZAL 9453 P 1W (A Side) and ZAL 9454 P 1W (B Side).

Interestingly the labels are surrounded by black and white strobe indicators to ensure the record is playing at 33.3RPM.

I would grade this record album as "good" to "very good" in accordance with the Record Collector grading guide set out below. There are hairlines on the disk that I feel would affect play, particularly a nasty looking line that bisects the final track on Side B and would cause a repeated "tick" on playback. I personally have never played the album. I am not able to play it now.

The photographs of the disc, label and matrix can give you an idea of the item's quality. It will benefit from a clean however I do not have professional record cleaning equipment.

The name of the artist, album, release number and matrix number have been neatly hand written by a previous owner on the labels.

It is housed in the standard paper sleeve that came with the record. It does not have a custom inner sleeve or an album sleeve.

I have not played the item since purchase 30 years ago. It has been stored upright all these years with cardboard stiffeners either side of the paper sleeve inside a click-seal plastic sleeve that has protected the disc. It was kept in a steel cabinet.

It is the perfect item for the Bowie collector desiring to enhance their UK Bowie catalogue. A Bowie collector will be pleased with this item. A rare item indeed.

The record will be very well packaged.

I am in the process of simplifying an extensive Bowie collection that began in December 1974. I am not getting any younger and I reckon that browsing through the bins in that great record store in the sky will be sooner rather than later. Storage has also become a burden.

More items including the odd test pressing and also Australian pressings of Bowie albums on RCA, for example, are to follow, a few at a time.

Shipping and payments

Please wait for me to invoice you before payment.

I am based in Australia. Not the USA. Shipping costs will be calculated on the basis that I am shipping from Australia to a destination worldwide. Ignore the eBay USA shipping costs.
Please contact me regarding shipping costs if you wish (Navigating eBay's shipping requirement's interface is a nightmare in my honest opinion).

Unfortunately, Australian local and international postage costs are high.

Typical shipping costs:

Record Collector Grading Guide

MINT: The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint.

EXCELLENT: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and / or creasing.

VERY GOOD: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

GOOD: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discolouration, etc.

FAIR: The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents will be torn, stained and / or defaced.

POOR: The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.

BAD: The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection filler.
