Description

Classic Records 45 rpm 4 x 200 gram single-sided LP audiophile pressing of David Crosby's awesome 1971 solo debut 'If I Could Only Remember My Name'.
The USA based company Classic Records were one of the most respected audiophile record labels.  They are no longer in production so these limited edition LPs are sure to become future collector's items.  This was one of the very few extra special limited (even for Classic Records) top of the range, no holds barred copies.  By pressing at 45 rpm the album needs to take up extra space so becomes a double album.  This practise gives increased bandwidth and detail, rather like a higher master tape speed.  As if that wasn't even Classic then decided to make this a 4 record set, only cutting one side of each disc and giving the other face a surface designed to improve performance by making better contact with the turntable platter.  It really doesn't get any better than this.  Classic only pressed a very small selection of LPs on 4 x single sided 45rpm LPs.  As previously stated the label is no more so this is the absolute cream of quality, and collectability.  They are pressed on extremely high quality vinyl (200 gram).  With slight exception, noted below, the LPs, and heavy high quality card gatefold cover, are as new.  I opened the sealed packet when I purchased this from new and played it once.  I have since play tested it to make sure it hasn't degraded over time, and just to remind myself who completely amazing this does sound.  Full, natural sound with unbeatable dynamic range, detail and soundsatging. Both times of playing it was played on seriously high end quality equipment. It is effectively as new.
The LP comes in a thick high quality card cover of the same gatefold design as the original (although this version does use better quality card)  The cover is ceratainly near mint but as often happens when you buy a new record, not perfect.  Packed with the gatefold cover are three white card covers, holding discs 2,3 and 4.  These must have been packed very slightly wet from the factory as they had stick togethr.  Unfortueately this lef to a slight tear of the back of the gatefiold cover, clearly seen in the photos, and frankly irrelevant marking of the plain white card covers, there is also a very slight corner dent, again it was there from new.  It really is a shame as that stops this being mint, but it is 100% as new!
Fortunately the cover is the only part with any damage whatsoever.  The four discs are absolutely mint, they play perfectly, and better than any other version of this phenomenal album.  You will not be disappointed!
eBay won't allow the postage cost to be set at more than £4.50 but as this is a 4 record set, and they are heavy records, and it's very rare, I would prefer to send this Special Delivery within the UK, or International Signed For overseas.  This also provides compensation against loss.   Postage costs are:
UK (Special Delivery): £12.50 Europe (International Signed For): £21.00 Worldwide (International Signed For): £30

I have tried to photograph the LP as faithfully as possible.  I have not used Photoshop or any other type of photo enhancement.   This album, as with all my records, even new unplayed ones, is carefully cleaned and vacuum dried on a Loricraft record cleaning machine using L'Art du Son record cleaning fluid. It is then placed in a new poly-lined anti-static inner sleeve and play-tested on a state-of-the-art record playing system.  It may play significantly better than I have graded it on a lower resolution system.
To protect the LP in transit it will be packed in a new cruciform LP mailer with stiffening card inserts. The LP and inner sleeve will be packed outside of the cover to protect against seam splits during transit.
Please see my other auctions, I will be listing several rare and interesting LPs over the next few weeks.
