David Crosby "If I Could Only Remember My Name"
This is a US vinyl pressing on Atlantic 7203 from 1971. It is a test pressing. This was his first solo album. It came out right after Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young's 'Deja Vu'. The music is almost as good as a CSN album. ( If it had a better front cover it might have sold as many as a CSN album. It was issued in a cover that did not have his name on it. It's also was hard to recognize his face because it's an extreme close-up and it's superimposed on a ocean sunset. So, most fans of CSN missed this album when it was released and it sold very poorly. ) But, this is a must have album. The music is great. Kinda bluesy CSN. 'Cowboy Movie' is an epic song !! He is helped by Graham Nash and Neil Young. By Grateful Dead members Mickey Hart, Phil Lesh, Bill Kreutzmann, and Jerry Garcia. By Jefferson Airplane members : David Frieberg, Paul Kantner, Jack Casady, Jorma Kaukonen, and Grace Slick. Plus help from Joni Mitchell, and Gregg Rolie. David Geffen is credited with direction. Photographs are by Henry Diltz. All songs are written by David Crosby except for one Nash/Young/Crosby song and one Young/Garcia/Lesh/Shreve/Crosby song.
This is a test pressing that you may never see again. Why are test pressing so rare ?? A test pressing is the very first pressing of a record. It's made so that the artist, produced, engineer, and record company executives can approve the record. Some go to the press as review copies. They are pressed in extremely limited numbers ( like 50 to 100 ) and are never repressed. They are sent out before the cover and labels have been printed.
The songs are : Music Is Love, Cowboy Movie, Tamalpais High, Laughing, What Are There Names, Traction In The Rain, Song With No Words, Orleans, and I'd Swear There Was Somebody Here.

The cover is VG. It's a plain white cover with the info sheet taped on the front. The info sheet has been torn and lots of clear tape was used to tape it back on. There is writing on the info sheet. When this was issued the 4th song on side one had no name. There is just a '?' there. The Side 1 vinyl is VG. It has one scratch that crosses songs 2,3, and 4. It pops on song 3 only, because it is a quiet song. You can not hear any pops on songs 2 or 4 becuase they are louder. The side 2 vinyl looks near mint and plays near mint. The labels say Monarch Record MFG, Test Pressing. The sides, record number, name, and stereo are hand written. Also there are tiny stickers on both labels. The matric numbers are : Side 1 : ST-a-712107-A and Side 2 : ST-A-712108-B .
I will package this record between two pieces of 1/2 inch think cardboard. ( It's so thick that you will save it and use again. ) It will weigh 24 ounces ( 1 pound, 8 ounces ) when ready to ship. You can figure out your own postage costs for US Priority or Media Mail. It will be sent by First Class Mail International to overseas buyers. ( Buyers from Italy will assume all risks for shipping to their country) I will send it as soon as you pay ( same day of before 2 PM and next day if after 2 PM ) I will combine postage if you win more than one record. This record is from a no smoking and no pets home.
