Description

David "Honeyboy" Edwards - Mississippi Delta Bluesman (Folkways FS 3539)
Edwards (solo g, vcl, hrmnc).
Recorded, in New York City, on 9 march 1979.

This Issue: Classic Folkways album cover: heavy black cardboard. On front: white band above artist photo, with his name and album title in black and brown letters. At very top, names of producer and liner-note writer (Robert Palmer) left; "FOLKWAYS RECORDS FS 3539" right. Entire front is paper pasted on hard, black cardboard. Back, left half is just the cardboard. Right half has beige paper pasted on, with "FOLKWAYS RECORDS FS 3539" at top, track titles underneath. At bottom, artist's name and album title, with production credit underneath. At bottom: "FOLKWAYS RECORDS FS 3539".
A six-page, folded A4 booklet, on newsprint-type paper, is included.
Center Labels and Runouts: ?Blue label with "FOLKWAYS Records" at top, 43 W 61st street address underneath, and "Long Playing Non-Breakable Micro Groove 331/3 RPM" on third line. Below that, on three lines: artist's name, album title, and producer's name. Left of center hole: "Side 1". Right of center hole: "FS 3539 A" (or B). Below hole, track titles. At bottom: "(P) (C) 1979 Folkways Records & Service Corp.".
?Side 1: [etched] FS 3539 A Side 2: [etched] FS 3539 B
Condition of Record: NM. Record has no mark or blemish of any kind; not even a factory-made smudge. It was played once on my Thorens, whose spindle was a bit too big for the record's center hole.
Condition of Cover: Equally very fine (love Folkways; it used the heaviest cardboard). Front has no trace of a mark; photo and text perfectly clean. Beige-paper part of back cover has a few specks of dirt (record is more than forty years old). No ringwear on either side. Spine is fine, all text clear, corners not bumped. Open-end corners, top and bottom, have very slight wrinkles. Horizontal edges show no shelfwear at all.
Six-page booklet also unmarked, untouched (other than to photograph for this auction). Only thing marring a perfect score for album is a factory-made cutout circle, at bottom-right corner of front. It didn't cut the paper sleeve, however.

I'm the original owner of the record (bought after seeing the artist in concert; cover photo is from that event). I have carefully kept it stored upright on a shelf, away from sunlight, in its sleeve and cover.

I'm an independent seller divesting his own record collection. I'm not selling from a store or warehouse, with multiple copies of titles, or on behalf of a professional collector.

Shipping: Ebay requires seller to indicate shipping methods and other particulars, then automatically inserts the cost at the top of the listing. Buyer will pay amount as determined by destination, by shipping method he chooses, and by required insurance (see: below); I don't gouge the price to make more profit. (USPS Media Mail is cheapest; I will provide prices for US Priority, or for FedEx or UPS ground, if requested.)

Insurance is mandatory on shipments to US addresses: The final price of the item determines the amount of insurance required. Please wait till I inform you of your total cost prior to submitting payment. It and not Ebay's stated cost is the amount to be paid.

**For winners outside US**: USPS shipping options are International Priority and International Express. Both methods include insurance but only Express provides a return receipt. (Check USPS's website for shipping prices.) If you want a private-company shipper, I will quote you the cost at end of auction. First-Class-Package service, which doesn't include insurance, is an option; the shipping cost will be lower, but if your item doesn't arrive you have no recourse. The risk is yours.

Packing: The LP will be carefully placed in the standard cardboard LP box. If you want cardboard inserts for extra reinforcement, please say so.

Payment: Although Ebay now processes payments directly, I also accept Paypal. I accept cash in cases of in-person deliveries.

Returns: Returns will be accepted in cases of error in description.

N A record known to have never been played. A CD that has never been removed from its jewel case.

NM A record or CD known or assumed to have been played. LP may have a surface fingerprint smudge or other minor blemish; it may have slight spindle wear. CD might have been played, but it and its booklet, and its case (or box), show little if any wear. Otherwise, item appears same as N in all respects.
VG++ More handling marks than on NM but should play like new. VG+ Some wear may affect play or there may be a few minor blemishes.
VG More than a few blemishes; may have a scratch. If so, will be described in detail.
