Description
David Peel was a New York City-based musician with a raw, acoustic "street rock" style. His lyrics about marijuana and bad cops appealed mostly to hippies and the disenfranchised. "The Pope Smokes Dope" is his third album, released in 1972 by Apple Records. David Peel & The Lower East Side, along with John Lennon and Yoko Ono, performed Peel's "The Ballad of New York" on the David Frost Show, broadcast on January 13, 1972. This album managed to push the buttons of almost everyone in authority around the world. The cover is in very good+ condition with some spine wear.
