Description
This auction is for a 1968 Mono edition of Davy Graham's Large as Life and Twice as Natural LP (LK4969). The record was pressed in 1968 and has a red Decca unboxed logo and a matrix number reading ARL-8494-1B / ARL-8495-1B. An impressive continuation of Davy Grahams work featuring some very talented backing Musicians; Danny Thompson, Harold McNair, Dick Heckstall-Smith and John Wiseman.
I have graded this disc as VG as on the first side there is one large hairline mark that passes through the majority of that side, there are also a few smaller surface marks visible. The second side is a lot cleaner and has a clean bright sheen, just a few light wispy marks when held to the light.
I gave the record a listen and the first side actually plays fine without any skips, jumps, pops or distortions, I did hear a single tick on the second track of the second side but otherwise playback is great and these Decca pressing tend to be pretty hardy. The sleeve is in a similar state with some creasing / blistering to the extremities of the laminate and some mild ring wear to the rear, but no structural wear such as splits seam etc.
All in all a nice listening copy of this expansive work by Graham nicely blurring the lines between folk, Blues and Jazz.
