Description

Benjamin Britten War Requiem Opus 66, the original 1963 Decca stereo pressing catalog SET 252-3. This is a 2 record box set with libretto booklet conducted by the composer himself, featuring Galina Vishnevskaya, Peter Pears, and Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau with the London Symphony Orchestra and Chorus, the Bach Choir, Highgate School Choir, and the Melos Ensemble. This is the historic first recording of the War Requiem and remains one of the most acclaimed classical recordings ever made.


Condition. The outer box shows handling wear including a rubbed area across the top front panel and scattered scuffs and fine scratches, along with a small chip at the bottom back edge. The paper inner sleeves show age related foxing spots. Vinyl surfaces show fine hairline marks under close inspection. Please review all photos carefully as this is a vintage 1963 pressing sold as is. Booklet and all four record sides included.
