Early wide band Decca (UK) SXL stereo LP (with rare blue border back cover) of Rachmaninov’s “Piano Concerto No 1 In F Sharpe Minor, Op 1” (Decca SXL 2034, ffss), Peter Katin (piano) with Sir Adrian Boult conducting the London Philharmonic Orchestra. Also on the program is Tchaikovsky’s “Concert Fantasia In G Major, Op 56”.
The label has “Original Recording by” at 10 O’clock and the stampers are ZAL-4061-1K/ZAL-4062-2K.
The glossy LP looks and plays near mint with just some very light occasional surface noise. The “flip-up” style cover (dated 1959) is also in excellent condition with just some light discoloration on the back near the bottom and one very tiny spot where the clear foil is loose (also on the back). Included is the original Decca ffss inner sleeve.
