Decca SXL 2221 wb+g Ed.1 – RIMSKY KORSAKOV: ORCHESTRAL PIECES – ANSERMET
1958 Decca stereo recording on wide-band grooved label Ed.1 catalogue number SXL 2221. Rimsky-Korsakov’s Russian Easter Festival Overture, May Night Overture and Suite from The Tale of Tsar Saltan – Suite Op.57 with Ernest Ansermet conducting L’Orchestre de la Suisse Romande.
Disc is clean and shiny. Side 1 has several light surface marks; audibly there are 2 noticeable ticks and 7/8 VERY light ticks. Side 2 has no visible marks but Track 1 has a succession of 7 audible (not loud) ticks; Track 2 has 1 tick; throughout the side are about 15 VERY faint ticks. Overall sound quality is fabulous. Sleeve is excellent with minor creasing; original supplier’s sticker on rear.
