I came to Deee-Lite the way most people did - through “Groove Is In The Heart” and World Clique. I was spinning that record long before I knew what house music was, or what a rave felt like.

Years later I was deep in the New York party scene, and I found out Deee-Lite had made this other album, nothing like the pop hit. Dewdrops is underground, street, all dance. For a long stretch it was my favorite record, front to back: Party Happening People, Call Me, Bittersweet Loving, the straight-ahead house cuts, even the remix the group buried at the very end. You don’t skip through this one - it takes you somewhere. It’s all one story.

And the credits back it up. Masters At Work (Louie Vega and Kenny “Dope” Gonzalez) produce Bittersweet Loving, and Armand Van Helden delivers a special edit of DMT (Dance Music Trance), all on a major-label double LP most people walked right past.

By the time I found it on vinyl it was already hard to come by, and that was a thrill. I even got to play it out once or twice - dropping Party Happening People for a room. This came out of my working crates: stored upright, handled by the edges, kept clean, because that’s how you treat the tools of the trade.

Graded conservatively to the Goldmine standard, media and sleeve separately. Vinyl: glossy and clean with light hairline surface marks visible only under raking light - no deep scratches. Jacket: still in its original (opened) shrinkwrap, and the faces are clean and well protected underneath, but all four corners are frayed from years in the crates, a couple worn through to the substrate, and the open edge shows fraying and light lifting. The spine and closed seams are solid. Graded G+ for the corners. Insert: present, with light folds and edge fray.

Visually graded under strong light, not play-tested, and priced with that in mind. What you see is the exact record that ships.
