Description
I am selling off parts of my 3,000+ record collection, encompassing blues, prog, psyche, folk, krautrock and hard rock, all of which are original or first pressings. The large majority of my records are all in excellent to near-mint condition, and all play without any loud pops, repeating tics or skips. All of my listings have low starting bids and reasonable 'buy-it-now' prices. My grading is strict and, unless a record is sealed, I play-grade everything on a high-end turntable.

Description:
This is an early UK pressing of 'In Rock' by Deep Purple, as evidenced by the '1' mothers, the 'R' stamper on side 1 and the 'T' stamper on side 2. [There is a common misconception that the first UK pressing had A-1/B-1 matrix numbers; however, the side with the A-1 matrix number was actually plated from the second (i.e. '2') mother, not the first mother. The very first UK pressing on the day of release had '1' mothers and 'G' stampers on both sides, and A-2 / B-1 matrix numbers.]
The vinyl looks near-mint under normal lighting and plays beautifully. There is a light touch of surface noise during the short, quiet organ interlude, straight after the wild intro to 'Speed King', but the rest of the vinyl plays loud and clear - no pops, tics, skips or distortion. Great sound!
Comes complete with the original paper sleeve with 'PATENT Nos. 1,125,555' and 'MADE IN GREAT BRITAIN' in black text near the bottom seam on one side of the sleeve. Note that first pressings, between June and July 1970, all came with this plain paper inner sleeve; the Harvest advertising inner sleeve was only included from about August 1970 onwards. The inner sleeve has discoloured with age, but all seams are intact without any splits.
The laminated Garrod and Lofthouse gatefold sleeve has a few light creases and a faint impression of the record on the rear panel, but otherwise shows very few signs of wear, with all seams intact and the spine text clear and legible. Inside the gatefold, both panels are clean with a few light creases, but there is no evidence of rubbing or paper loss.
