Description

Deep Purple - Shades of (Parlophone PCS 7055 - Mono)

Here's one of the rarest Deep Purple records out there, and a must for any DP collection!

The debut Deep Purple LP bombed on it's initial release, and they were far from being the household name they would become. The LP would get released at least a couple of times, once Hush had propelled them into the public conciousness, but this 1st pressing is incredibly rare as nobody bought it!

This is the first pressing with stampers - Side One XEX 690-1 (1R).  Side Two XEX 689-1 (1G).

The label is the Yellow and Black Parlophone, which was soon phased out. These labels only appear on the original pressing.

Laminated flipback sleeve, printed by Garrod and Lofthouse.

The stereo version of this LP is rare, but this is the MONO, which is even rarer! Only a very small run of these were produced and it rarely turns up for sale these days. The mono is a great punchy mix!

Cover: Is in Excellent condition, with ligth signs of wear. No marks, tears, writing, etc. and spine is all intact.

Inner: Original HMV inner sleeve in EX condition

Vinyl: VG+, contains some suface marks but no major or deep scratches. Contains one large mark (see pic) on one track but as you can hear from the sound below is not deep enough to affect play. There is some audable surface noise in parts and the occasional pop, but this is mostly noticable during the quieter parts and the loud music cuts through any surface noice.

I have ripped both sides of the album so you can hear the LP direct from the vinyl. Please listen below;
